“Remembering who I am” poem - wonderful!
across the most marvelous poem for moms and teachers from the Cool Cat Teacher Blog! To wit:
I am not an avatar nor am I an id
I am not my twitter nor my SL identity
I am not my diigo and wikis aren’t me
I’m a mom and a teacher in all simplicity.Tis easy to get caught up in “being something” more
when what I am to be is often the two feet on my floor.
No one else can hug my kids nor wipe a wet tear
love the unlovely or calm the raw fear. The pressure from “somewhere” to be some kind of star
is deceiving and distracting from helping us be who we are.
Balance, perspective, focus, and time offline
will become successful habits of the overachieving mind.Reject the invisible hand that pushes you to stress
think what you want and how time should be spent best.
Choose your life’s course, don’t just flow with the stream,
you can be more…but it should fit with your dream ….MORE….
Oh that is *magnificent.* You should really visit the above link and read the rest of the posting; it’s very insightful.
I can truly resonate with the writing. I’m a mom in my 40s who works at home, raises 4 utterly wondrous kids and has a terrific husband as well. As I continue to grow, I realize more and more that the Internet, while a fantastic way to make a living and meet up with neat people, pales next to the things that are truly important - my family, my friends, the people whose lives touch me and whose lives I touch as well.
Sure, it’s fun to read up on Twitter and fun to follow what folks on Facebook are doing and fun to be part of a group. But truly, that’s a surface pleasure at best….it’s your family and friends who nourish your heart and soul.
Enjoy,
Owlbert
