You know, it’s hard to believe an entire year passed.

One year ago today, over thirty students were massacred at Virginia Tech University.   A horrible, horrible HORRIBLE tragedy, it prompted colleges and universities across America to revisit their campus safety systems and flag troubled students before they self-destruct…and take innocent lives with them.

As a parent, I was shaken to the core to realize such things can happen at colleges and universities.  It jounced me out of my complacency with regards to raising my kids….a week after the massacre, I enrolled my entire family in self defense and martial arts.   The world in which my kids live is starkly different than the world in which I grew up….

Take some time today to tell your kids again about the VT Massacre and to remember those who unfairly lost their lives.   Our kids are NOT invulnerable….get that thru their heads before it’s too late.
