Power of the Internet – foiled teenager car thieves

Just read this fascinating

article from the Gear Diary – to wit:

….A man had his heavily modified Skyline GT-R advertised for sale, which was promptly stolen by a teenager with a fake ID who came to take a test drive….Posting details of the car on an enthusist forum, the thief was tracked down, the car coordined off by forum members cars, and the police called to arrest and charge him with the theft….MORE….

You can read the entire story over at Beyond Car Forums. 79 pages of commetary!

What I really like about this story is it shows how a virtual community can pull together to right a downright wrong. Another community member saw the car, found where the thief lived, posted the information….and the teenager was arrested.

This would be an excellent topic to discuss with your kids – the Internet goes far far FAR beyond Facebook and World of Warcraft and eBay and whatever else they might do….it can also be a power for intense good (as well as intense evil).

Neat story, huh?

ThankYouVeryMuch!
