How to make a ‘glow stick in a soda bottle’ - Summer Science Project

Morning,

So! Have your kids ever had an insane desire to make their own glow sticks? You know, those thingees they use for the 4th of July or party evenings or what have you?

Apparently, the recipe is rather easy to do! To wit:

… Chemicals Required:
Sodium Hydroxide (lye)You can use “Red Devil” drain cleaner or buy it on eBay.

Luminol, also available on eBay.

Hydrogen Peroxide (3% drugstore variety)

Sodium Ferrocyanide, also known as tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate or sodium hexacyanoferrate (II), is (of course) also available on eBay ….MORE….

I can see this as a great summer science fun thing!

Want more glow stick goodies?

Enjoy!
