Hanging up my BJJ gi

it was just too good to last. The person who teaches me BJJ told me he won’t be teaching at the place during the day classes I attend (which are advanced, even though I’m a beginner). Ergo, that particular location is no longer viable for my training.
This is lousy on all sorts of levels, the main one being, it was impossible finding this place in the beginning! I’ve heard that a BJJ location will open nearby me soon, so perhaps in the future I can start it again.
Now, you might remember….last week I bought my first BJJ gi (a Century blue for about $20 or so from eBay). Never did get a chance to wear it in class….
So! Instead of angsting about the way things are, here’s what I did.
First, I channeled my frustration and wrote the blog post “You’re too freakin’ old to learn how to make money with a blog – HAH!” Not only was I older than everyone there, I was also the only woman who worked out too.
Next, I hung up my gi right next to my computer where it’s happily decorating my office this minute.
Whenever I look at it, I remind myself:
To hell with what people THINK you’re capable of doing – what matters is what YOU BELIEVE.
I believed I could do BJJ at my age…and I did. Not too many of my peers can say the same!
And in other news, my eldest daughter made me a Mother’s Day book that literally brought tears to my eyes. I have to scan it and post a picture – it really drove home the point that life’s daily soap operas are really trivia; family is what counts.
Today I’ll be taking the family to see Speed Racer (yay!) and meet up with a great friend as well. Oh yes, and it’s garage sale day! Not to mention, the kids want to attend kata class, so it will be a very full day indeed.
Time to make the coffee,
Barbara
