How to create Brilliant Twitter Backgrounds for free

Twitter!Are you on Twitter?

Okay, ‘course…that’s like asking, are you breathing?  :)   

Well, if you’re on Twitter, you’re going to want to make yourself stand out above and beyond the Thundering Herd!

The following question:

How can I make good Twitter Backgrounds?

was asked at my forums, and I wanted to recap some neat ideas.

You can use Photoshop or its Open Source (aka free) cousin GIMP to design great backgrounds that will frame all of your critical tweets and compel people to want to learn more about you.

Specific Twitter Background Image dimensions vary, but the following seems to be popular:

  • Image width: 1255 pixels
  • Image height: 555 pixels
  • Left graphic width: 245 pixels
  • Right graphic width: 250 pixels
