How to Use Squidoo to Make Money Online

Morning!

Over the past week, I’ve been teaching myself one heck of a lot regarding using Squidoo.  I can’t believe I’ve been so remiss with learning about this site!

First off, what IS Squidoo, I hear you ask?

The brainchild of Seth Godin, it gives anyone who can type on a keyboard the ability to craft a  useful page about their interests in one location so others can benefit from their knowledge.

I’m quite hooked on the goodness of Squidoo for a multitude of reasons.  One, it levels the playing field for anyone to make their mark on the Internet.  Even if you don’t know a lick of HTML or CSS, you can easily pull in videos, images, links, quizzes, polls and much more via its module interface.

Two, you can also use it to make money as well by either: Read more

StatsJunky Review – the Affiliate Income Tracker Final Frontier?

StatsJunky Looks Pretty Sweet

To wit:

All serious affiliate marketers doing substantial profit margins always have 1 major thing in common and that is a central “Dashboard” of all of their earnings among all the networks. Most marketers have several accounts, some even with the same company. And most of the affiliates doing 6-7 figures a month are 1 man shops.

So you can either build your own dashboard which shows you all of your earnings or you can purchase software to do it for you…..

One offtopic thing I like about the product is the community it offers over at the StatsJunky Forum.  It has topics like: Read more

Niche MarketingWell, now you do (several in fact!).

I’ve added a Niche Marketing Forum to the free Income Fitness boards!

One thing I’ve realized during the decade or so that I’ve been teaching is that folks want to learn about profiting within specific niches…but don’t always know how to find those niche boards that focus on the business/make money aspect.  Hence, the new sub-forum. Read more

Nobody Freakin' OWES You ANYTHING – Why Business Colleagues Abandon Your Site Online

CryingToday’s post was going to be replete with nifty ways about incorporating Paypal into your blog for free, so those folks who hate advertising can actually stll make money online.

Then all heck broke lose at my home and quite frankly…

I’m in no mental state whatsoever to execute the kind of quality you’ve come to expect from the Virtual Coach.  :(

So instead, indulge me, will you please, in the following rant.  :)   I promise it will be applicable to your money making abilities online.

As you might know, last week I began my Income Fitness Forums.  Thru dint of a huge amount of time and effort, the community is definitely gaining ground and is becoming more and more popular every day.

That’s the good news!  Yay!

The bad news is I actually listened to several of my business friends when they promised they’d visit and post often.

Out of perhaps 10 of them, maybe 3 posted at least once….and only 2 reproduced that magnificent feat.

Sigh.  You know, you’d think that the folks whom you have helped out in the past would expend a wee bit more effort to help you out when it’s asked, eh?

At least, that was my initial reaction today when I decided to focus on every single thing that’s wrong with my life (starting with my kids who didn’t want to take responsibilities for their actions to my Twitter Budgies who flew where they shouldn’t to the Sock Monster From Hell who ate my washing machine to ….).

And then I realized I could take some true gold from this situation.  And it’s this:

Nobody OWES You ANYTHING.

Did I gently shriek with quietly enough so you REALLY heard it?

No?

Okay, let me try once again:

Nobody OWES You ANNNNNYTHING.

Oooo, what I said.

Let’s now bring this post back to the real square one – you.

Do you ever make the insidiously horrible mistake of counting on someone who isn’t deeply in love with you (or cherishes or values you)?

If so, you have my empathy….because only those people who emotionally value you (or monetarily, I suppose) will really take the time out to be there when needed.

And quite honestly….I can really understand that.

It’s so tempting with today’s economic disaster that we WANT to feel, I can reach out my hand and someone will take it (and not simply to remove my wedding ring!).  It’s a human emotion to desire a safe berth, a person on whom one can count, a tried and true friend.

But that ignores the fact that those individuals themselves are struggling just as much as you are for a far more important cause – their OWN personal number one.  Themselves!

When you’re saving yourself, it’s pretty darned difficult to stop and say, Jeepers, I need to save others too!

It’s not impossible, mind you.  There are wondrous people like James of MenWithPens, Bill Vick of XtremeRecruiting.org , Tony Blake of Entrepreneur Success , Ulla Henning and others who will always help out whenever possible. Indeed, there are scores of such great people online.

But when it comes to a long-term help, people might SAY they’ll pitch in as much as they can…and the buck stops dead at the verbal words.  No actions ensue.

And you know something?  You HAVE to make yourself okay with that.  Else you’ll drive yourself batty.

Remember: when it comes right down to the bare nitty-gritty metal, the ONLY person upon whom you can count beyond a shadow of a doubt….is YOU.

I’ve retrained my thinking to be appreciative of any effort made at all by my business colleagues.  If they post once, I thank them…and let it go.  I can hope they follow up, but if they choose not to do so….at least they did give of their time in the first place.

When business colleagues let the ball drop, I honestly do NOT think it’s because they’re abandoning you.  I think instead because life happens.

We all want to be there for our friends and colleagues…but sometimes, time just doesn’t allow for it and promises slips thru the cracks.

Thus, when you’re building a site online or a business portal or starting a blog or running a forum or what have you, shed your expectations of your business colleagues.  Take complete ownership of your work yourself….that way, you never will feel angry that you’ve been let down.

And who knows…you might just be inspired to attain even great heights when you drive the entire process yourself.

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling
