Mailing lists
are kinda sorta like forums, except that you receive postings via email
instead of reading them via a web site.
There are thousands
of mailing lists, all tailored to specific interests, hobbies, business
needs and more. Generally, they are either moderated (a live human bean
must approve the postings) or unmoderated (anything goes).
Mailing lists
promote a sense of community. This is very valuable when you are learning

include Lyris and Majordomo.
If you'd prefer
not to set up actual software, you can take advantage of the many list-creation
services like Egroups
or Onelist. You can also search
for mailing lists at these sites, too.
